Bigger baits

After receiving an email some time ago from an angler seeking a bigger lure for Mulloway and Barramundi , I made these few oversized "Mugil Giants".

They are 20cm long and shallow running.

For trolling , and casting!

Other lures.

Been working on some different lures recently.
Mainly for Golden Perch and Murray Cod , they have aluminium bibs and soldered towpoints.
The soldering is less than perfect. It's a real skill and I have much to learn.
Practice , practice....

Papua.

Just got a report back from intrepid angler Simon Bruce , who recently fished the rivers of west Papua New Guinea.

Black Bass to 15kg , Barramundi to 90cm , Saratoga.....

What a trip!

The 'Harry Herring'.

For some years now I have made a few 'Harry Herrings' for anglers trolling and casting for Barramundi. I have wondered if the same design would work on Murray Cod  , Golden Perch and in smaller sizes , Australian Bass.

So I made a couple and  replaced the standard polycarbonate bib with an aluminium bib and used a soldered towpoint , commonly used on Cod lures made in eastern Australia from the 1970's till the present day.

I was happy to hear the lure worked well , diving deep with a wide aggressive action.
